I got a phone call from one of BSR Service’s regular customers this week. She said she was having her outdoor decks sanded and stained and asked if we could stop by and take a look at a couple of soft boards in the room between the house and the garage.

Well, eight hours after we arrived, the total 12×12 foot floor was a pile of rotted wood in her front yard.

The space was built in 1986 without the use of pressure treated lumber. The moisture from the ground had kept all the lumber moist for the past 24 years. If the original builder had just laid down some plastic sheeting on the ground below the floor, he could have added another 24 years to the floor.

Our solution; lay down poly on the ground, install ice and water shield around the perimeter to protect the wood, use pressure treated framing lumber and ¾” pressure treated plywood sub-floor. Over this plywood we installed 15 # felt paper then 1×10 tongue and groove finish floor.

Another BSR Services problem solved and we assured our customer that this is a lifetime floor system!
