This week I want to talk about casement windows, other wise known in New England as “crank outs”. The advantage of this style of window is that they look good and are designed to allow the greatest amount of air flow in the summer months. The disadvantage is that they can be difficult to operate and allow the greatest amount of airflow during the winter months as well.

The most economical solution to this problem is to replace them with vinyl or wood double hung replacement windows. If your home contains these inefficient windows now is the time to get them replaced, in order to save money on your heating and cooling costs!
